Dietitians on Carbs and Fat

It's been all over the news in the past few weeks: research showing that people who eat full-fat dairy products instead of low-fat are less likely to gain weight, and that doing so doesn't contribute to heart disease.  Are we surprised?  We are certainly not surprised!  In fact, dietitians have even started to come around about fat and carbs, and they are very slow to change!  Here's what major organizations are saying we should eat these days.  I say: eat in a way that makes YOU healthiest!!  No general recommendations are going to apply to all of us.  But it's nice to see that when we low-carbers have been saying for at least 20 years now is finally starting to get confirmation.  Be healthy - Laura

Dietitians on Carbs, Fat, and Salt
The analogy has been made that turning a giant ship around does not happen quickly, and the "HMS Low-Fat High-Carb Diet" was going full steam ahead for quite a few decades before people started to notice that we were getting fatter and less healthy.  Now the major professional association for dietitians is actually coming right out and saying that eating excess carb is worse than eating saturated fat!  Be still, my heart!

Half of All Americans Now Have Diabetes or Prediabetes

And this may be why organizations are coming around.  20 years ago, I used to think that maybe a third of adults could benefit from a reduced-carb diet.  Now it has clearly tipped over into "most of us" - at this point, I'm thinking it's probably about 2/3, when you include people with so-called "Normal Weight Obesity" (basically people of normal weight who have metabolic syndrome).
