 I've gotten a lot of emails over the years from exercisers who want to know what to do if their spouse/loved one won't exercise.

Frankly, as a married person, I say that?  Is something I'm not even going to touch. 

The thing is, we can't control other people. We try, of course.  We can ask, beg, nag or try to guilt people into doing things but, in the end, if someone doesn't want to do something, there's not a whole lot you can do.  It has to be their decision.

That's the sum total of what I've learned after being married for 16 years.  

What Not to Say to a Loved One Who Won't Exercise 
If you want your loved one to exercise, what do you do?  A better question is - what shouldn't you do?  Because this can be a minefield if you don't handle it right.  I have some suggestions for what not to say to someone who just won't exercise.
