My mind always drifts to worries about the future and problems I've had in the past. How can I stay present in the moment?
| | | Whether your mind drifts to the past or you're always worried about the future, staying in the present can be tough. But not being present can take a toll on your psychological well-being. It can impact your happiness and make it hard to focus and stay on task. If you've ever forgotten where you parked your car just 5 minutes ago or you've looked for your phone when it's right in your hand, it's a sign your mind probably isn't focused on the present! Fortunately, mindfulness skills are something we can all learn and practice. You can begin to practice mindfulness simply by focusing on what's going on around you in the moment. You might put a piece of hard candy in your mouth and take a minute to focus on how it tastes. Or you might smell a flower and really soak in the aroma for a minute. Your mind will drift to something else, but you can gently bring it back to the task at hand. With practice, you can get better at being more mindful. To really practice mindfulness, you may want to check out some mindfulness resources that can help you learn more about it. | | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the Healthy Mind newsletter.
