After a significant period of alcohol misuse, what can I do to ensure my cognitive abilities are strengthened as much as possible? Besides the obvious recommendation to abstain from alcohol consumption.
| | | It's wise to be concerned about the impact alcohol may have had on your brain. Multiple studies show that individuals with a history of alcohol abuse have smaller and lighter brains than those who don't drink. Fortunately, some of the damage done to the brain can be reversed once an individual stops drinking. After several months of abstinence, some individuals notice improvement in their ability to think more clearly, remember things, and make better decisions. If you're concerned that you've caused some cognitive damage, talk to your doctor. Your physician may be able to refer you to a specialist who can conduct testing and provide you with strategies on how to strengthen your cognitive functioning as much as possible. | | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the Healthy Mind newsletter.
