From Paige Waehner, your Guide to Exercise

It's kind of interesting that the word 'flab' includes the word 'ab,' since most of us struggle with flabby abs...or, flabbs.  Since most of us struggle with this same issue, it becomes obvious that the body is predisposed to store fat around the belly.  I mean, how do those calories know to go right to the abdominal region and why can't we redirect them?

We may not be able to control where the fat goes, but there are some things we can do to target belly fat, even if it takes awhile to get rid of it.  In the meantime, I suggest making friends with your belly...y'all will probably be together for awhile.

Getting Rid of Belly Fat
If you want to get rid of belly fat, you might be tempted to resort to ab exercises.  After all, it makes sense that doing an ab exercise might help get rid of the fat there.  As logical as that sounds, it just doesn't work that way, something we've proven over the years as we try to get away from this idea of spot reduction.

Spot Reduction - The Myth That Wouldn't Die
Spot reduction is the oh so tempting belief that doing specific exercises will reduce the fat over certain areas of the body. For example, doing leg lifts to reduce fat around the hips and thighs or doing ab exercises in the hopes of flat abs.

Secrets From Your Personal Trainer
Sometimes, there are things trainers wish they could say to their clients...no, it isn't that you have bad breath or vile body odor, but more about what it really takes to lose weight and keep it off.

Losing Inches, But Not Weight?
Because so many of us want to lose weight, at any given moment, most of us know how much we weigh. Most of us even have a favorite scale, the favorite being the one that gives us the lowest number possible. We talk about weight, think about weight and, sometimes, lie about weight, but how often do we think about what that number means?
