What Is a Lipid Panel? A lipid panel, known simply as a cholesterol test, measures total cholesterol, the two individual types of cholesterol, and triglycerides. It's often ordered as part of routine blood work conducted during an annual physical exam to screen for risk of cardiovascular concerns.
