From Marcia Purse, your Guide to Bipolar Disorder
Nobody will ever have to force me to take my meds. I remember very well what life was like without them. But then, I don't ever intend to get arrested, either.

I don't intend to take a trip by air anytime soon, either - in fact, not unless I have no other choice. The new security measures bother me a lot.

Enforced Medication - What Do You Think?
Christopher Seekins was arrested for having 8 pounds of marijuana - enough to get him a minimum 7 year prison sentence. But he has bipolar disorder and has been refusing to take his meds. Without them, he's been found incompetent to stand trial, and the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that he can be involuntarily medicated to make him competent. What's your take on this?

Will Airport Security Measures Bother You?
Airline passengers are being randomly selected to go through full body scans - which reveal every detail of the body - and those who refuse scans are subject to intimate physical pat downs. Refuse that? You can't fly. For people with mental illnesses, these procedures could cause a great deal of distress.

Reader Spotlight: Age Brings Wisdom and Hindsight
Brenda talks about the behaviors and symptoms that led to her bipolar disorder diagnosis. "I thought [the bipolar high] was fun when I was young," she says, "but age brings wisdom and hindsight."

Creative Spotlight: Bipolarly Yours
Sleepysue's poem "Bipolarly Yours" expresses the duality of mood and thought in bipolar disorder.
