Vegetarian and vegan diets are having a surge in popularity in recent years, and fairly frequently I hear the question, "is it possible to follow a vegetarian low-carb diet?". Of course it is! There is no requirement whatsoever that a low-carb diet contain meat -- it doesn't even have to be especially high in protein. Because of this interest in meatless eating, I'm developing more resources on the site for vegetarians. Have a fun and healthy week, and Happy New Year to those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah. - Laura

Tips for Low-Carb Vegetarians
Here are thoughts and tips for being successful on a low-carb vegetarian diet. People who are interested in this approach may have heard of a study published four years ago dubbed the "Eco-Atkins Diet" - I described and reviewed that study at the time (not a great study, but had some interesting things in it).

Low-Carb Vegetarian Recipes
Of course, most of the recipes on my site are meatless -- they are recipes for vegetables, breakfast foods, pizza, etc. I've made a separate list of recipes which are specifically focused on non-meat sources of protein. See also menu suggestions from my vegan friend Terri, who follows a reduced-carb diet.

Honey Cake for Rosh Hashanah
Does a a low-carb honey cake sound like a contradiction in terms? I've made this yummy low-carb and gluten-free cake with just a little dark honey for Rosh Hashanah, but it's just as good without it, as a nice, autumnal spice cake, with only 3 grams of net carb per slice.

Almonds for Health and Nutrition
