 | No matter how familiar I am with American culture and customs, as a Canadian I think I'll always feel a little bit like a tourist in the US. Being a tourist can feel unsettling (you're always away, never home) but it also comes with a newness of perspective that allows you to appreciate things that others take for granted. The website "Sleep Like the Dead" which advertises itself as the largest unbiased mattress review website in the world, recently published their first (but hopefully not last) summary report on consumer reviews of mattresses in terms of suitability for sex.

Sexsomnia, also known as sleep sex, is a relatively newly identified condition where someone involuntarily initiates sex while sleeping. It can happen alone or with a partner, and when it's unwanted and unintended, it might be more accurately described as assault, and not sex.

Sociologist Martin Monto was confused by the discrepency between all the talk of hookup culture and his own experiences of college and university life. So he decided to put some of the basic claims of hookup alarmists to a test, using data from a nationally representative sample taken in 1988 and 2010. What he found won't sell many papers, or cause much fear, but it sure is worth knowing.

I've been trying for several months to get pregnant, but other than a lot of awkwardly timed sex, nothing's happening. We usually use a water based lube, and I'm wondering if that could be part of the problem. Can lubricant harm sperm and get in the way of me getting pregnant?
