| | As I was looking around the internet for strength sequences, I noticed something: most of them assume you are already strong enough to do arm balances and inversions. But how are you supposed to build yourself up to those intermediate and advanced postures? So I designed this 9-pose strength sequence with beginners in mind. | | 9 Yoga Poses That Build Strength for Beginners While the poses I picked for this sequence are challenging, there's nothing that asks you to fully invert or balance your body's entire weight on your hands. If you want to up the intensity, I have included the option to add repetitions and dynamic movement to some poses. | Poses for Arm Strength Ten-pose sequence that really targets arm strength. Again, no full inversions or arm balances. | Warm Up With Sun Salutations It's always a good idea to warm up a little before jumping into a challenging sequence. A few rounds of sun salutations are the way to go. | Pose of the Week - Revolved Half Moon I always grab a block on my way into yoga classes. There are a handful of poses for which I know I'm going to want it and I like to be prepared. One of the primary ones is revolved half moon. Those extra couple of inches off the floor are just what it takes to be achieve the chest opening twist this pose requires. I wish I could go into this picture and slide one right under her left hand.
