German Potato Pancakes

These potato pancakes are traditionally eaten with applesauce at local outdoor weekly markets, Christmas events, or during other German holidays. We also like them as an appetizer with sour cream or a side dish with roasted chicken or pork dishes. They even taste amazing at brunch, topped with a poached egg.

There's been a lot of talk about whole milk's comeback. The green M&M is sexy. This Jezebel piece about the "cursed" history of the sexy green M&M was the best thing we read this week. We also loved this NYT piece about the joy of biting into a slice of raw red onion. Eater's guide to "the most divisive and misunderstood denizen of the candy aisle" (licorice) was a fun little read. The Washington Post published a column that disparaged Indian food, this criticism of that piece is a lot better.
