From Jennifer Moll, your Guide to Cholesterol
Nuts can be an excellent complement to any meal -- or even alone as a healthy snack. But did you know that nuts can also be heart-healthy? Some studies suggest that a handful of nuts may help lower your cholesterol levels. This newsletter will tell you how nuts affect your cholesterol, and includes some healthy recipes containing nuts.

Which Nuts Are The Best To Lower My Cholesterol?
There are a variety of nuts out there, which include pecans, pistachios, and walnuts. While they vary in the amounts of fats they have, some nuts might be more effective in helping to lower your cholesterol.

Pecans and Your Cholesterol
Although pecans mainly affect one type of cholesterol, they also contain unsaturated fats, vitamins and other nutrients -- making them a heart-healthy snack.

Can Pistachio Nuts Lower Cholesterol?
Pistachio nuts are a popular snack, and chock-full of nutrients, such as thiamin, potassium, fiber, phytosterols, magnesium and vitamin B6. Research indicates that pistachios also raise your good cholesterol, or HDL.

The Cholesterol Friendly Benefits of Walnuts
Walnuts can be used in a variety of foods -- and are also heart-healthy. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), recognizing the cholesterol-lowering properties of walnuts, accepted a petition filed by the California Walnut Commission to list the health claim that walnuts can aid in reducing cholesterol levels.
