400 Words Between Fact and F*#@ed Up
About once a year there is a story in some paper about people with disabilities and sex workers. Sometimes the articles are positive, profiling what is described as a progressive or sex positive approach to disability. Other times the coverage is negative, leading readers to understand that their tax dollars are going to free sex for disabled people. In almost all cases the people covering the story either have no clue what they are reporting on, or are so struck by the very idea of disabled people having sex that they fail to include most of the relevant information the rest of us need to understand what's actually happening.
