What Are Proton Pump Inhibitors?
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a group of medications that have been used to decrease the amount of acid in the stomach and intestines. Doctors prescribe PPIs to treat people with GERD, ulcers in the stomach or intestine, or other digestive disorders where the production of stomach acid needs to be controlled.
Types of PPIs:
  • Aciphex
  • Dexilant
  • Nexium
  • Prevacid
  • Prilosec

    What Are H2 Blockers?
H2 blockers, which are also called H2-receptor antagonists, are medicines used to reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. The H2-blockers block histamine's ability to bind to one kind of histamine receptor on cells: the histamine-2 receptor.
    Types of H2 blockers:
  • Axid
  • Pepcid
  • Tagamet
  • Zantac Related Resources:

  • Managing Heartburn Triggered By Food

Then there are some foods they can eat if they either don't eat very often or eat in small amounts. And then there are the foods that are pretty safe for them to eat. And sometimes it can even be how and when they eat that triggers the heartburn.
