From Fiona Haynes, your Guide to Low Fat Cooking
Treat the dad in your life to dinner. I don't mean an expensive calorie-laden restaurant meal. I mean something you've made yourself. It could be his very favorite home-cooked meal or something entirely new. If dad is watching his fat and calorie intake, I have some great suggestions.

Celebrating Dads
Unlike moms on Mother's Day, it seems that dads generally don't get breakfast in bed on Father's Day. So instead, why not treat dad to a home-cooked dinner?

Spotting High Fat Foods on the Menu
I was recently asked if I could help look over a menu for low-fat options. I began the process by highlighting the high fat ones. Sometimes the key terms are obvious, and other times they're not. If you eat out occasionally or more than occasionally, it's good to know how to decode higher fat menu items.

Turkey Burgers
Turkey burgers are usually a good lower-fat option for burgers and turkey meat certainly has a pleasingly strong flavor in case you worry that white-meat burgers would be bland.

Tomatoes, Tomatoes
Tomatoes are one of America's most popular vegetables -- OK, so the tomato is technically a fruit, but we treat it as a vegetable. For a food once considered to be poisonous -- tomatoes belong to the nightshade family -- these wonderful red, orange, yellow (purple and green) orbs have clearly come a long way.
