It certainly doesn't get the attention and admiration it deserves (if pleasure was a meritocracy, masturbation would surely be president). There are exceptions of course (like the website Beautiful Agony), but for the most part even though we in the West are saturated with sexual imagery and messaging, many remain ashamed of their masturbation, and others don't feel able to let themselves enjoy masturbating in the first place. These are the people Masturbation Month directs its attention to. And all month, to celebrate, I'll be writing and posting content with more of a masturbatory focus. I'll try to come up with other ways to celebrate as well, I'm sure I can think of something... ~ Cory Celebrating National Masturbation Month Back in 1995 a few sex shops got together for a marketing/activist moment and named May as National Masturbation Month. As media and public attention waned most have dropped the idea, but for the rest of us who don't make a living selling sex toys, it's an opportunity to celebrate a part of our sexual lives that most of us never speak of.
