From Marcia Purse, your Guide to Bipolar Disorder
I don't recommend stopping medications without a doctor's orders unless you're having a serious reaction such as developing a rash when taking Lamictal. There are few good reasons to stop taking meds and many bad ones. Physical symptoms from stopping can be a doozy, as I found out.

Below the fold, important information about summer sunshine and heat's effects on psych medications.

Does Your Risperdal Smell Bad?
If you're taking Risperdal or the generic risperidone and the pills have an odd odor, don't panic - but you'll need to read this.

Antidepressants: Fast Discontinuation, Faster Relapse
If you're going off an antidepressant (under your doctor's orders, please), a 2010 study suggests you're better off taking your time about it.

SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome
Going off medications such as Prozac, Paxil and Celexa can be problematic for more reasons than faster relapse. Physical symptoms can be nasty. Read about why and get tips on how to minimize symptoms (on page 2 of the article).

My Experience Dropping ALL Meds
In June 2005 I began tapering off all my medications in order to participate in a clinical study. The first stage wasn't so bad, and the second stage happened when I was happy about something else - but the final stage was absolutely miserable.
