The urge to set fire to things we don't like - Pictures of old boyfriends/girlfriends, the annual property tax bill, the husband's gym bag where old, sweaty clothes have been left to ferment for weeks (or perhaps that's just me) - is a natural one, which may explain why we're so fascinated with the idea of burning fat.

The fact that fat is highly flammable, makes this even more appealing...except that fat has to be outside the body to really go down in flames. I'm afraid that, inside the body, that fat is more flame resistant than the water-soaked firewood delivered to us this winter by a crappy-company-that-shall-remain-nameless (though it does produce lovely, yet choking, billows of smoke).

That doesn't mean you can't burn the fat, just that there isn't a magic exercise that will do it quickly, efficiently and from all the places you want.

I know...*sigh*
