The benefits of exercise are often hard to quantify, even those that could have the most impact on our lives. For example, we know that exercise can help prevent things like heart disease and diabetes, but how can we measure something that didn't happen?

It's kind of like when you don't yell at your spouse for forgetting to pick up the dry cleaning or leaving an empty milk carton in the refrigerator. What's the point of that hard-won restraint if no one knows about it?

The point is, exercise really can make your future better. I'm afraid it can't do anything about your forgetful spouse, though.
