Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids found in a variety of foods, including fish. In addition to food and as a prescription, you'll see them in the stores as fish oil or supplements. They have a long history of being "healthy fats", especially in the realm of promoting heart health. Recent research has also shown their ability to lower triglycerides.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Do They Lower Cholesterol?
Omega-3 fatty acids typically consist of a combination of polyunsaturated fatty acids that include DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). They have a reputation for being heart-friendly fats because they do not promote atherosclerosis associated with causing heart disease. So, does it help lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels?

Which Foods Contain the Most Omega-3 Fatty Acids?
