| | Last Wednesday, March 3, was the ninth year that sex workers and their allies marked International Sex Worker Rights Day. Almost all the work I do about sex is about access. I'm so aware of the ways that lack of access -- to sex information, to potential partners, to basic sexual rights -- result in poor sexual health, including limited experience of sexual pleasure, for all of us. Understanding sexuality through the lens of access one begins to see many similarities in the ways that sex workers and people living with disabilities are marginalized sexually. It makes conversations about sex work and disability particularly rich and complicated (not to mention difficult, funny, painful, exciting, and more). This week I wanted to share my response to an interesting and insightful article that challenges both the progressive and conservative views on sex work and disability.
