From Fiona Haynes, your Guide to Low Fat Cooking
What you eat at the beginning of the day often sets the tone for what and how much you eat throughout the rest of the day. Here are some breakfast and brunch options that are nutritious as well as delicious.

Poached Eggs with Asparagus
In general, it's fine to eat eggs even if you're committed to eating low fat. It's what we add to eggs or eat alongside eggs that can get us into trouble. Here, a poached egg sits atop a bed of freshly steamed asparagus; now what's so unhealthy about that?

Peach Melba Smoothie
Here's a quick and easy way to get a boost of fruit, fiber and calcium. This peach melba smoothie, so named because of its blend of peaches and raspberries, would make a great liquid breakfast treat.

Fruit and Oat Granola Bars
The word granola suggests healthy, but many granolas and granola bars are anything but, often carrying a hefty fat and calorie load for their size. These homemade granola bars are dense, sweet and full of whole grains. Enjoy them as part of a healthy breakfast, or pack one in your child's lunch box.

Morning Glory Muffins
These muffins are especially good warm. Perfect for popping into lunch boxes or as an an after-school treat, your kids will gobble these up as though there wasn't a vegetable in sight. For an extra nutritional boost, replace half the flour with whole wheat flour.
