From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga
And updated edition of Yoga for Dummies recently came out. You may already be familiar with the For Dummies series of books, many of which cover computer, technology, and do-it-yourself topics. Despite the series title, these books are actually intended to make complex topics digestible for intelligent, curious readers.

Yoga for Dummies Review
When I first saw a pocket-sized Yoga for Dummies in the supermarket checkout line, I tossed it into my cart, thinking it would be good to see what kind of misinformation was being marketed to the masses. I was quite surprised to discover the (full sized) book is actually a really good introduction to yoga practice for beginners, written by two respected yoga experts, Georg Feuerstein and Larry Payne.

Yoga for Beginners Crash Course
A crash course for the yoga beginner, including all the inside information you need to feel comfortable when you are starting a yoga practice. Find out how to pick a yoga style, lose weight, observe proper yoga etiquette, and avoid injury. Each week you will also get the answer to a frequently asked question (FAQ). At the end of this seven-week course, you will understand the principles and origins of yoga, and know how to practice beginning-level poses.

Yoga Pose of the Day
Get the yoga pose of the day emailed to you directly. Each day will bring you a new pose, starting with beginners' poses and working up to advanced ones.

Pose of the Week - Eagle Pose - Garudasana
Starting this standing balances sequence with an eagle pose really gets the series off on the right foot (har har). Eagle is a balancing pose, but it's a relatively stable one since the body is so compact in it. Get your balance in Eagle, and the rest of the poses will flow smoothly from it.
