When we hear a "fact" everywhere we look, it's easy to assume that it's, well, "true". Right now, one of the "facts" being floated is that a vegan diet (now dubbed "plant-based") is the healthiest way to eat. It's just one of a never-ending series of examples showing that if we value our health, it's good to question these assumptions. (Note: I have no gripe with vegans -- check out my interview with a vegan friend who eats low-carb -- as long as they don't try to convert me.) Have a great week - and Question Authority! Laura

Denise Minger Separates Fact and Fiction
Denise Minger is a formerly vegan blogger who now seems to have made it her life's work to look behind the curtain of data about nutrition to find the facts. In her latest blog post she dismantles the recently-released vegan film "Forks Over Knives". It's fascinating, especially if you like science. She's working on a book skewering the Dietary Guidelines.
