Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are the center of studies once again, and once again, it's not favorable news. As I reported in 2006 and 2009, PPIs were said to increase the risk of fractures. Another study stated PPIs may induce reflux symptoms and become addictive. And another study warned about using PPIs when taking Plavix. Read below about another study centering on PPIs and fractures and infections.


Studies Show Risks Associated With Proton Pump Inhibitors
According to a series of reports in the May issue of a JAMA journal, Archives of Internal Medicine, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may be associated with fractures in post-menopausal women and bacterial infections in many patients. The reports also point to higher doses of PPIs do not appear to be any more beneficial for treating bleeding ulcers.. Read more...
