From Fiona Haynes, your Guide to Low Fat Cooking
What's more scary than all those little grim reapers, zombies and hockey-masked trick-or-treaters that come a knocking? Why, the calories in all those Halloween treats, of course. Keep fat and sugar calories in check with these not-so-scary Halloween tips.

A Low Fat Halloween
I love all those little fun-size treats, but once I've "sampled" a couple of little bars, and one or two mini candy packs, I realize I might as well have eaten a full size version of one of them, and actually saved fat and sugar calories. So here are some tips for keeping things fun while keeping calories in check.

Pumpkin Bites
Neither a cookie nor a muffin, these soft little pumpkin bites make a nice, porttion-controlled sweet treat for the fall season. Feel free to add chopped dried fruit, a few chopped nuts, or even a sprinkling of miniature chocolate chips.

Apple and Pear Sauce
This versatile apple and pear sauce is an ideal condiment for pancakes and waffles, a self-contained snack, or a delicious sauce for a lean roast pork dish.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Once we're done carving pumpkins, we clean off the seeds and roastt hem for a delicious and healthy snack. This recipe is a sweet one, but equally, feel free to use spices instead -- a little chili powder and cumin, perhaps!
