From Marcia Purse, your Guide to Bipolar Disorder
We all know that "get over it" is not the best thing to say to someone who's depressed, and "you're imagining it" is not the best thing to say to someone who's hallucinating or paranoid. This week, share what you think would be the best things to say to someone with bipolar disorder.

Instead of Telling Me I'm Lazy ...
Coming up with a list of the wrong things to say to someone who has bipolar disorder isn't all that difficult. But what should people say to you when you're in a depressive, hypomanic, or manic episode? What would be helpful instead of hurtful? In the comments, write a sentence or two that you'd like to hear from friends or loved ones when your mood is ruling you.

Most Hurtful Things Said
What have people said to you about your bipolar disorder that really hurt your feelings? Give us your answers and read what others have said.

What Is Depression?
Saying, "I'm depressed" to someone is often useless. At best they may ask what you're depressed about, but they're very unlikely to ask what that means. It's going to be up to you to explain it. Here's help.

What Is Mania?
Mania can be a slippery term. Too many people think of a person with mania as a maniac and don't know what "manic" really means. Here's a no-frills look at the truth about mania.
