When summer finally comes to an end, I will roll up my sleeves and clean out my refrigerator. I'm always amazed at what lurks within: forgotten leftovers, out-of-date tubs of this and that, and so on. I also use this clearing out as an opportunity to toss unhealthy foods. Once those are gone, I restock with healthy, low-fat foods. What do I mean, exactly? Read on.

The Well-Stocked Refrigerator
Leftover pizza, pie, and birthday cake be gone! It's time to restock my refrigerator and make sure that when I want to snack or put together a meal for my family, I have the freshest, healthiest ingredients to hand.

Zucchini Overload
If you have a huge crop of zucchini and you're wondering what to do with it all, try some of these low fat zucchini recipes, which include savory and sweet dishes from soups to salads to sweet treats.

Healthier Banana Bread
During the summer my bananas seem to turn from slightly underripe to overripe in the space of a couple of days, or so it seems. When they become brown and speckly, I either peel and freeze those bananas for smoothies or I make yummy banana bread.

Southwestern Quinoa Salad
Quinoa is a highly nutritious grain (seed, actually) that's a great substitute for rice and couscous. It's perfect for those who need to eat gluten free. Here's a delicious southwestern-style quinoa salad that will go well with grilled chicken, pork, or fish.
