From Pam Stephan, your Guide to Breast Cancer
No tummy? Small butt? I envy you - but if you need breast reconstruction, you still have options if you have 'love handles.'

New Breast Reconstruction Uses Love Handles
You know what "love handles" are - those mounds of fat between your hips and your waist - but not on your tummy or derriere. For slim, well-toned athletic women, those love handles can be transplanted to the breast area for reconstruction after breast cancer. Read more about LSGAP flap reconstruction.

Fat Transfer Breast Reconstruction for Lumpectomy Repair
My teenage dream would have been to suction fat from my hips and use it to enhance my breasts. Cytori Therapeutics has developed a system to use your hip and belly fat to repair dents and dimples left behind after a lumpectomy. The same procedure may eventually be used to soften breast implant reconstruction, or for breast augmentation.

Comparing DIEP and TRAM Flap Procedures
A TRAM flap is a classic type of breast reconstruction - it involves moving muscle as well as skin and fat. A DIEP flap (deep inferior epigastric perforator) uses skin and fat from your tummy. So how do these compare? A plastic surgeon guides you through a comparison of these procedures.

When to Have Breast Cancer Reconstruction
Being diagnosed with breast cancer brought on way too many decisions. Lumpectomy or mastectomy? Rebuilt breast or go natural? So if I have reconstruction, before or after other treatments? No wonder I felt overwhelmed.
