From Pam Stephan, your Guide to Breast Cancer
What's green, fluffy, crunchy, and beats up on cancer cells? Hint: you see this a lot as a garnish, dried or fresh. But it turns out to be more than just a gourmet decoration.

Celery and Parsley Help Fight Breast Cancer
Celery is one of those veggies that we used to fill with pimento cheese and serve as an appetizer, or chop up with potato salad. Parsley goes great as a garnish and in tabbouleh. Both these plants contain a flavonoid that, in lab studies, causes breast cancer cells to shrink and die. Hooray for celery! Will it be the alternative to chemo, in the future?

Herbs and Spices Pack Flavor...and Health Benefits
My backyard garden is starting to flourish this week. Tomatoes, squash and okra are blooming and producing. One entire bed is devoted to herbs - and we love to use them fresh! Here are many good reasons to include anti-cancer herbs and spices in your daily diet.

Pomegranates For Good Health
My husband's grandmother had a beautiful pomegranate bush, and now we have one, too! Pomegranates are a very healthy fruit that appears to slow down the growth of estrogen-fueled breast cancers. Their juice is as beautiful as a good wine, and their seeds can be used in salads, or dried and eaten as snacks.

Throw Tomatoes at Your Cancer
Spring and summertime bring us fresh (not hothouse) tomatoes, loaded with flavor and lycopene. Eat these beauties raw, grilled, baked, stuffed, or sauced. They are loaded with healthy antioxidants, and yes - they fight cancer! Try a new variety of tomato this year and see how romantic these love apples can be.
