March is Women's History Month. Two-thirds of those with Alzheimer's disease are women. At first, researchers thought this was simply because women in general have a longer life expectancy than men. But, multiple studies have shown that there's more to that statistic.
Women are also more likely to be a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's or another kind of dementia. Caregivers have a high calling that can be rewarding but also puts them at risk of burnout.
This month, take a moment to learn about your risk (or that of someone you love) for dementia and for caregiver burnout.
