Most cases of breast cancer are fueled by estrogen - so most treatments are geared to treat ER+ disease. But for the 15-20% of cases that don't respond to estrogen-suppressing therapy, there is new hope in the form of PARP inhibitors.

Iniparib Shows Promise For Triple Negative Breast Cancer
When cancer cells don't get damaged by chemo, they repair themselves. To do this, they use the PARP protein to fix their compromised DNA. A new drug for Triple Negative Breast Cancer takes advantage of this repair mechanism by blocking PARP receptors. Learn more about the clinical trial using Iniparib here.

Why doesn't my clinic do my blood draw through a port?
During chemotherapy, I got good and sick of needles. There were needles for shots, needles for tests, and needles for chemo infusions. I had a port for the chemo infusions, but my clinic didn't use it for those pesky blood draws before each treatment. Now I know why!
