| What to Expect From a Lumpectomy
My lumpectomy went well, with minimal scarring and swelling. But it was hard to tell at first, since I had enough surgical dressings to cover the entire breast! Then there were also those surgical drains to deal with - no fun there. Knowing what you may expect to deal with after surgery can help you prepare for recovery.
| Radiation After Surgery
Radiation treatments usually follow a lumpectomy. There are several ways to get this done: everything from a one-shot and you're done procedure to a six-week stint of twice-daily zaps. Your options will depend on particular details of your diagnosis as well as what is available in your area. In any case, it is a safe treatment which prevents recurrence.
