"Why is losing weight so hard?" This question was asked by a client after stepping on a scale and learning that she hadn't lost one pound after a week of working out. My answer? "Because it is." She squeezed the dumbbell in her hand and I'm quite sure she was pretending it was my neck. "Really? That's your answer?"

"Pretty much," I had to admit, wanting to explain further, but realizing that summed things up rather well. Weight loss is hard sometimes, but we do plenty of things that make it harder than it has to be.

We're human that way.
