Even though there is now a yoga for everyone and their dog, literally, some people still fear that they will get caught up in a patchouli-scented cloud upon entering a yoga class and will be forced to open their chakras before being released. Which, we all know, only happens in the advanced classes... All kidding aside, if you or someone you know would prefer their yoga with more of a fitness bent, this one's for you.

Pose of the Week - Awkward Chair Pose - Utkatasana
Do you ever feel like all yoga poses should begin with the disclaimer "awkward"? Awkward pigeon, awkward monkey,and awkward gate sound about right to me. Well, there is one pose that is very true to its name: awkward chair. Because sitting on a chair that isn't there is never going to be comfortable. This is a good time to fall back on your breath, focusing on each inhale and exhale (instead of your burning thighs) until you're released from the pose.
