From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga
What should you wear to yoga? What will you need to bring with you, what should you eat before practicing? How will you know what to do in class, how can you avoid over-doing it? All this basic information and so much more is compiled in my yoga tips for beginners. If that's not enough tips for you, there are more gems throughout the site, including hot yoga tips, aerial yoga tips, SUP yoga tips and AcroYoga tips.

Yoga Tips for Beginners
Perhaps the most important tip is to always ask questions when you don't understand something. If it's about yoga culture or etiquette, more experienced students are almost always happy to share their expertise. Questions about specific physical postures are best directed toward your teacher, either during or after class.

Pose of the Week - Heron Pose - Krounchasana
One of the nice lessons yoga has to offer is learning to get over the idea that we have to do it all. Heron pose is a good example of a situation that is likely going to be challenging for overachievers, because it can be really difficult to maintain your spinal alignment and straighten your leg at the same time. You have to prioritize, and hopefully realize that you don't want to collapse your back in order to get your leg straight. Using a prop, like a yoga strap, around the extended foot allows you to get all the benefits of the pose. The life lesson? Accept a helping hand when you need one.
