Not only can fewer medications be used when patients receive behavioral treatment, but caregivers often feel more empowered to make a difference with smart and often clever strategies to handle agitation, aggression, and sexually inappropriate behaviors in dementia.

The ABC's of Behavior Management
Behavior problems such as aggression, suspicion, or wandering are caused by damage to the brain and are not something that your loved one can control, "keep in check," or prevent. It's especially important to remember this when individuals with Alzheimer's do or say things that can be interpreted as hurtful. The key to managing challenging behaviors is to view the behaviors through a compassionate lens and with a non-judgmental attitude. Read more
