Runners tend to have tight muscles and can greatly benefit from loosening up with a regular stretching routine. Here are ten poses to stretch the calves, quads, hamstrings, and more.

Yoga Stretches for Runners
These stretches are best done when the muscles are already warm. Doing a few sun salutations (see below) is a good way to warm up.

Sun Salutation Sequence
This flowing sequence of poses is a good way to start any yoga home practice. Knowing what you are going to do first when you get on your mat really helps with motivation.

Advice on Hamstring Flexibility
Runners often have tight hamstrings. See what advice Aunt Yoga has for the hamstring-challenged.

Pose of the Week - Lunge
This lunge-to-straight-leg stretch is one of my favorites. I recommend including it in any warm-up sequence you do. Start slowly and don't push if it's your first hamstring stretch of the day. Of course, you should never push it, but if the option to straighten the front leg is available to you, it's a very nice feeling.
