While it’s true that organic food tends to be more eco-friendly and contains fewer pesticides, it’s always been doubtful as to whether or not the food is actually more nutritious. But new research, just published in the British Journal of Nutrition, has good news for consumers who have been shelling out for that “organic” label – at least, for those who aren’t vegans. After looking at over 250 studies, the researchers concluded that organic meat and milk is indeed healthier than the conventional kind, as they contain about fifty percent more healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Organic milk also has 40 percent more conjugated linoleic acid, which may aid in weight loss, as well as extra iron, iodine, vitamin E, and selenium, which may reduce your risk of heart disease. |
