| In the old days people who wanted to study or even speak publicly about sex were usually required to first justify their work. Why do we need to talk about sex? Isn't it a mystery best left unsolved? The study and discussion of sex in public is still often maligned, but in many circles it's at least seen as a semi-legitimate way to make a living. These days I find that my explanations about why sex matters are geared more toward the people who are, perhaps paradoxically, asking for help. They may be looking for an answer, a tip, or a resource. But they often don't want the long response they get from me which involves them doing some work too. Why do I need to think about THAT when I really just want to figure out THIS? To them I try to explain why I think sex is important to all parts of our lives and how I believe it's connected to the our most fundamental sense of being. I find that one on one, people tend to get this and get on board with it. In groups it's a bit of a harder sell. The sex tip in this week's newsletter offers some advice on thinking through why sex matters, and why you should care. ~ Cory |
