Unfortunately, I don't have any advice about how to adjust to the time change. In fact, my family is still on the old schedule, with everyone going to bed too late and oversleeping in the morning. What I can help you with, however, is your jumping.

Surya Namaskara A
The basic Ashtanga sun salutation includes a jump from standing back to chaturanga and, after the vinyasa, a jump from downward dog back to the front of the mat. Both jumps should be done with as much lightness as possible. When doing the forward jump, try flexing your feet.

Ashtanga Jump-Through
A few years ago I took a workshop with Ashtanga master David Swenson. His advice on jumping through from downdog to seated was very helpful, so I'm passing what I learned on to you.

Jumping Back From Crow
When jumping back from crow pose, it helps to think about hugging your knees to the midline in the split second before your legs go back. As with all yoga jumps, core strength is the key to more control and less flailing.

Pose of the Week - Sun Salutation
It's a good time of year to start moving more vigorously, shaking off the cozy inactivity of winter and making way for the rebirth of spring. To help you get moving, this week's pose is actually a series of poses: the classic sun salutation. Getting to know this series can be a big help in beginning to do more yoga outside of a class setting. You can control the pace of the series by deciding how many breaths to take in each pose. Longer hold times make for a slow burn while taking just one or two breaths per pose will raise your heart-rate more.
